Tampa Bay's golf story has two chapters, separated by sixty miles of I-4. Chapter one: Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, the Gulf Coast's flagship multi-course resort and home of the Valspar Championship. The Copperhead Course is the showpiece — rolling, pine-framed terrain that defies Florida's flat reputation, bookended by the Snake Pit finishing stretch (holes 16, 17, 18) that has ended more tour rounds than any three holes on the circuit. The Island, North, and South courses fill out Innisbrook's portfolio across 1,000 acres of pine-studded hills. Chapter two: Streamsong Resort in Bowling Green, an hour south on I-4, on land reclaimed from phosphate mining. Coore and Crenshaw built the Red Course first (firm, fast, dunescape), Tom Doak designed the Blue (wild native grasses, deep ponds, hauntingly un-Florida), and Gil Hanse completed the Black (vast sculpted greens, links sensibility). Three different architects, three radically different experiences, one address. Between Innisbrook and Streamsong, the Tampa Bay region holds two of Florida's most distinctive golf destinations — and TPC Tampa Bay in Lutz adds honest public access with a tournament pedigree.
