The Island Course is Innisbrook's water-intensive layout - Larry Packard's 1970 design demands precise carries and measured aggression across the 6,987-yard par-72 routing. Less celebrated than the Copperhead but frequently preferred by golfers who enjoy a course where water defines every hole's strategy rather than just the closing stretch. History
Innisbrook Resort — Island Course — History
Larry Packard laid the Island out in 1970. It has hosted US Open qualifiers, NCAA Championships and the LPGA Tour's Legends Championship, and has been ranked among the country's top 50 resort courses by Golf Digest and 14th in Travel & Leisure Golf's Fifty Finest in Florida.
Design
Innisbrook Resort — Island Course — Design
Packard's Island course is the resort's other serious test, and many who play both rate it no easier than Copperhead. It divides into thirds. The first six run alongside Lake Innisbrook with lateral water demanding accuracy from tee and approach; the middle six climb into rolling ground dominated by cypress and pine; the last six mix the two. Tight fairways, heavy bunkering and genuine elevation change -- rare in Florida -- carry it to 7,194 yards, par 72.
