About World Golf Village — Slammer & Squire
The Slammer & Squire is Bobby Weed's World Golf Village design, built with consultative input from legends Sam Snead ('Slammin' Sammy') and Gene Sarazen ('The Squire') - a 6,940-yard par-72 layout adjacent to the World Golf Hall of Fame that combines player-friendly routing with genuine respect for classic golf architecture. It opened two years before the King & Bear and remains the more accessible of the two WGV layouts, with the same public access at similar pricing.

Bobby Weed designed the course with Snead and Sarazen consulting, opening in 1998 at World Golf Village. It has been ranked among the top ten courses in Florida in multiple years.
Design
World Golf Village — Slammer & Squire — Design
Bobby Weed designed it with Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen consulting, and it is named for them. The layout is traditional and deliberately unshowy, running through native flatwoods and hardwood hammock alongside wetland preserve and wildlife habitat. The fairways are generous and gently rolling and the greens contoured; lakes and marsh supply the water. What players remember are the par 3s, which are the sharpest holes on the course.
