The unusual thing about this Pembroke Pines layout is that it is not flat. Elevation change is rare in South Florida golf, and Flamingo Lakes has enough of it to leave you playing from uneven lies, which is most of its defence at 5,846 yards. Water is in play on nearly every hole and the bunkering is placed to make you choose rather than simply to punish. It rewards thinking more than distance.
