About Orangebrook Golf & Country Club — East Course
Orangebrook's East Course is the second 18 added in 1959 - smaller greens and tighter corridors than the West, making it the more demanding of the two layouts. Both courses are operated by the City of Hollywood, and both share the same clubhouse, practice facilities, and pricing. A complete 36-hole public complex at an honest city-park rate.
History
Orangebrook Golf & Country Club — East Course — History
A.J. Ewing built the original eighteen for the City of Hollywood, opening nine holes in 1935 and the full course in 1936. It has been municipal golf ever since, and is identified on the ground by its checkered pin flags.
Design
Orangebrook Golf & Country Club — East Course — Design
The original Hollywood municipal layout, opened in the 1930s and still the more traditional of the two courses on the property. It carries fewer water hazards than the West but places large bunkers through the routing, and it is defended mainly by its greens, which are noticeably smaller than its sibling's. The fairways are wide and the landing areas generous, so the challenge arrives on approach rather than off the tee. On the ground it is identified by checkered pin flags and plain tee signs.
