About Orangebrook Golf & Country Club — West Course
Orangebrook Golf & Country Club is a City of Hollywood-owned 36-hole complex - one of the oldest municipal golf facilities in Broward County, with the original 18 holes opened in 1933 and a second 18 added in 1959. The West Course is the larger, more open of the two layouts, with wider greens and a friendlier design for high-handicap players. The lighted driving range is open to 10pm. NOTE: Eco Golf Club (1451 Taft St, Hollywood) is a completely separate 9-hole facility.

Red Lawrence built the West more than twenty years after the original course: the first nine opened in 1955 and the second was completed in 1961, giving the City of Hollywood a 36-hole municipal facility.
Design
Orangebrook Golf & Country Club — West Course — Design
Added more than twenty years after the East, the West is the wetter of the two Hollywood courses -- more water in play, with several large bunkers set close around the greens. It is also the more forgiving: the fairways are wide, the greens larger and flatter with few significant breaks, and a forward set of tees makes it the better of the pair for a beginner. The balance is deliberate, offering risk-and-reward rather than punishment.
