About Seminole Golf Club
Seminole Golf Club is Donald Ross's 1929 design on the Atlantic Ocean at Juno Beach - consistently ranked among the top 10 courses in the United States and often cited as the finest course in Florida. The routing uses a gentle ridge between the ocean and a lagoon to create natural topography that Florida golf rarely possesses, and Ross's green complexes - elevated, crowned, heavily contoured - demand an imagination that modern courses seldom require. Membership and guest access only; there are no public tee times.
History
Seminole Golf Club — History
Seminole Golf Club opened in 1929 to a Donald Ross design routed through coastal dunes in Juno Beach. Long regarded among the finest courses in the country, it served as Ben Hogan's pre-Masters proving ground and hosted the 2021 Walker Cup. Access is limited to members and their guests.
Design
Seminole Golf Club — Design
Donald Ross built Seminole in 1929 and it is generally ranked with Pinehurst No. 2 among his best work. Half a dozen holes sit hard against the Atlantic, and the dune ridges running through the property produce elevation change that does not look like Florida at all. It is not long by modern standards; the wind and the angles do the defending, and Ross routed the holes so that the breeze is rarely twice from the same quarter. Dick Wilson, Brian Silva and later Coore and Crenshaw have each worked on it, the last as a restoration back toward Ross.
