About SouthWood Golf Club
SouthWood Golf Club is Fred Couples's collaborative design with Gene Bates in the hills south of Tallahassee - a 7,070-yard layout that earned national recognition as one of America's best new courses upon its 1999 opening. The rolling North Florida terrain gives the course an elevation character uncommon in the state, and the Couples design instinct for playability over punishment makes it as enjoyable as it is challenging. Semi-private with outside guest access.

Fred Couples and Gene Bates routed SouthWood through genuinely varied Tallahassee ground -- high country, low country, secluded woodland and open pasture -- and let the existing land dictate the holes rather than imposing a theme on it. Enormous old oaks are the course's signature. There is no single repeated idea here; each hole is treated on its own terms, and five sets of tees keep a 7,152-yard par 72 within reach.
