The Course

About Orange County National — Crooked Cat

The Crooked Cat is Orange County National's more open, links-influenced layout - rugged native areas, wide driving zones, and an exposure to wind that transforms the challenge when Central Florida breezes pick up. At 7,025 yards it plays shorter than the Panther Lake but demands different skills, particularly in approach shot selection when the pin positions are tight and the wind is sideways. A regular qualifying site for USGA and state events.

History

Orange County National — Crooked Cat — History

Crooked Cat opened in the late 1990s as one of two regulation eighteens at Orange County National, a 900-acre facility that also carries a nine-hole executive course.

Design

Orange County National — Crooked Cat — Design

The links half of Orange County National. Crooked Cat has fewer trees, wider landing areas and native heather with mounding framing the fairways, so it invites you to hit driver -- and then punishes carelessness with grass bunkers scattered where you do not expect them. Being exposed, and routed so the holes twist through changing directions, the wind never comes from the same place twice. At 7,388 yards it is the longer of the pair and the one low handicappers prefer.
