Miami Shores Country Club is a Donald Ross design from 1939 in the small incorporated village of Miami Shores - a semi-private club that opens its tee sheet to the public while maintaining the feel of a neighborhood club. Ross's routing makes clever use of modest elevation change and well-placed bunkering, delivering more challenge than the yardage suggests.
History

The course opened in 1939 and has hosted a number of significant events including the Florida State Open, with Bob Hope, Joe DiMaggio, Arnold Palmer, Sam Snead and Lee Trevino all having played it. It has remained a semi-private club serving the village of Miami Shores ever since.
Design
Miami Shores Country Club — Design
Red Lawrence and Louis Wilson planned the course and directed its construction, both of them former associates of Toomey and Flynn, and it opened in the autumn of 1939. It still plays as two distinct halves: the front nine is about approach play, asking for precision into small, contoured, well-bunkered greens, while the back is decided off the tee. Sub-tropical vegetation and wildlife line the corridors, and it was given a major renovation in 2011.
