About Mark Bostick Golf Course (University of Florida)
Mark Bostick Golf Course is the University of Florida's home course - a par-70 layout on 110 wooded acres within the UF campus in Gainesville, restored to reflect the classic gently rolling character of early-20th-century American golf design. Named for a beloved Gators golfer and supporter, the course is used by the UF men's and women's golf teams and is accessible to university-affiliated players and sponsored guests. Its vintage character distinguishes it from any other course in north-central Florida.
History
Mark Bostick Golf Course (University of Florida) — History
Donald Ross laid the course out on the Gainesville campus in 1921. Bobby Weed led the 2001 restoration, working back toward the Ross characteristics rather than modernising away from them. It has been ranked among the top college courses in the United States.
Design
Mark Bostick Golf Course (University of Florida) — Design
The University of Florida's course, and a Donald Ross design -- Ross laid it out in the early 1920s on campus ground in Gainesville. Bobby Weed, a Florida alumnus, led the restoration in 2001, working back toward the Ross characteristics rather than modernising away from them: the interest is in the green sites and the ground in front of them rather than in length, at 6,656 yards to a par 70.
