About Celebration Golf Club
Celebration Golf Club is the rare collaboration between Robert Trent Jones Sr. and his son Robert Trent Jones Jr. - a 6,911-yard layout on the edge of Disney's planned community of Celebration. The front nine opens with lakes and bold bunkering; the back nine tightens through mature tree lines for a noticeably different character within the same round. One of the best-conditioned public-access courses near Disney, and priced to match the market rather than the resort.
History
Celebration Golf Club — History
Father and son designed Celebration together in 1996 for the Disney-planned town of the same name, and it is the only course they built as a pair. It has since hosted a Senior Open qualifier, the Florida State Public Links Championship, the Robert Gamez Celebrity Invitational and the Golf Channel's Drive, Chip and Putt finals.
Design
Celebration Golf Club — Design
Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Jr. built this together in 1996, working to a stated rule that every hole should be a hard par and an easy bogey. The result is a parkland course rather than a Florida water course: the corridors are framed by native trees and wetland, with clusters of oak, pine and magnolia inside them, and the two nines were deliberately given separate personalities. Six sets of tees carry a 141 slope, and the greens are Champion dwarf Bermuda.
