About Broken Sound Club
Broken Sound Club is Boca Raton's highest-profile private club - host of the 2023 Solheim Cup and a two-course (Old Course / Club Course) facility that sets the conditioning standard for Palm Beach County private golf. Both courses carry national recognition, and the Club Course's Arnold Palmer design is consistently cited among the top 50 private courses in Florida.
History
Broken Sound Club — History
Joe Lee laid the Club Course out in 1985. Gene Bates rebuilt it in 2002, with further input since from Johnny Miller and Matt Swanson. The pattern of successive renovation is characteristic of Boca's private clubs, where the membership funds a rebuild rather than letting a layout age.
Design
Broken Sound Club — Design
The Club Course carries work from four hands. Joe Lee designed it in 1985, Gene Bates rebuilt it in 2002, and Johnny Miller and Matt Swanson have both had input since. The result is a 7,001-yard par 72 playing to Tif-Eagle greens, maintained to the standard a private Boca Raton membership expects rather than shaped to challenge a touring professional.
